• You need a flat, non-flammable surface such as stone, brick, or gravel. A fire pit should never be placed on a deck or dry grass. 

• Position the fire pit at least 10 feet away from trees, any overhanging structures (drains, awnings), and buildings. 

• Keep seating well clear of the fire pit. 

2. Watch the Weather
