Win a Home Consultation with Dermot Bannon is Now Closed

Win a Home Consultation is a campaign all about reimagining how you can transform and future‑proof your home.

This year, people from all over the country shared their ideas, inspiration, and reasons why they want to future-proof their homes. From making their space more energy‑efficient, enhancing comfort and warmth, and rethinking layouts that no longer worked for their family.

We loved hearing your ideas and the reasons behind the changes you hope to make. Your plans were inspiring, ambitious, and full of potential.

Meet the Winners

Willow Warm Winner 1

Alan Weir & Yingxi Li: The Heritage Revival

A stunning 1880s period home that was “proudly draughty.” Alan and Yingxi wanted to honour the building’s 150-year history without living in a Victorian-era deep freeze.

Dermot focused on a total revolution of the home’s thermal soul. The consultation explored how to blend high-specification energy efficiency with the original character, banishing the “19th-century chill” whilst protecting every intricate period detail. It was about proving that a home can wear its history on its sleeve whilst functioning as a high-performance 21st-century retreat.

Willow Warm Winner 2 - Sinead O’Reilly

Sinead O’Reilly: The Heart of the Village

A home that had become a “contact sport.” With three young children and complex mobility needs to navigate, Sinead’s family was living on top of one another. The layout wasn’t just small; it was a daily barrier to therapy and independence.

This consultation was about more than bricks and mortar; it was about reclaiming freedom. Dermot reimagined the ground floor layout, prioritising wide circulation routes, integrated storage, and open sightlines. The goal was to create a seamless flow between play, rest, and recovery, turning a “survival zone” into a functional family hub.

Willow Warm Winner 2 - Tara Costello

Tara Costello: The Inchicore Gem

A historic 1847 railway cottage with incredible character but very limited space. With a growing family, the “two up, two down” layout was pushed to its absolute limit, and the family feared they might have to leave the community they love.

Dermot took the challenge of a small footprint head-on, focusing on clever spatial configuration. He explored how to extend the living space and find extra room for a growing family without sacrificing the gorgeous original fireplaces. It was a masterclass in clever design honouring industrial roots while creating a “forever home” on a compact scale.

Willow Warm Winner 2 - Aghna Cooney

Aghna Cooney: South-Facing Solution

A terraced home where the “new” extension was ironically the coldest room in the house. The layout was disconnected, the electric blanket was on overtime, and the glorious south-facing light was being completely ignored.

The focus here was on opening the house to the sun and fixing the “ice box” effect. Dermot reconfigured the disjointed extensions into a single, sun-drenched living area. By relocating the workspace and harnessing the natural south-facing aspect, the strategy turned a cold, fragmented house into a cohesive, toastie environment where every room finally serves a purpose.
